ESA was established in 2001 by representatives from smaller SWIFT countries to strengthen their work, understanding, and influence over SWIFT-related matters. Ukraine is a supporting country of ESA, and its participation has helped to inform the international financial community about the crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
As a result of the actions of ESA members, Russia was expelled from the alliance, and its director was removed from the SWIFT Board. This demonstrated the integrity and high moral standards of ESA members, and it is hoped that SWIFT will follow their lead.
ESA's provision of timely access to Swift information benefits not only Ukrainian users and members, but also enables Ukrainian financial institutions to shape the cooperative's strategy and development.
